The SPOKESperson

A few of our cyclists have been recording their Road to Lisbon journeys. They really capture the raw emotion, exhaustion (physically and mentally) and the blood, sweat and tears as well as the elation and jubilation our cyclists are going through on this wonderful but sometimes gruelling challenge they have signed up for.

***Fundraising reaches £40K***

FORTY THOUSAND POUNDS

We are absolutely delighted to advise that our fundraising total has reached and surpassed a new milestone of FORTY THOUSAND POUNDS.

This new milestone is incredible and it is down to our amazing support for their very kind and generous donations.  Hearing the fundraising tally rise makes us pedal on knowing how the charities will benefit from our cycle.

We are in regular contact with our charities and they are just as delighted as we are.  A reminder our three charities are:

  • Solving kids Cancer
  • Celtic FC Foundation
  • Children in Crossfire

Read about our charities here

Can we reach £45K? £50K?

When we set up our Cycle event our aims were to

  • to make a safe cycle to Lisbon
  • to make the cycle accessible for as many folk as possible
  • raise tens of thousands for three charities

We are delighted that thanks to our amazing support team from Greenrock our team of 30 cyclists (from across 7 countries) are two days away from our arrival in Lisbon and in doing so we have raised a phenomenal amount of money that will be split amongst the three charities.

Forty Thousand Pounds is an incredible amount of money and we are genuinely grateful for every penny that has been raised.  We are not greedy but this is a charity cycle and with this in mind we will continue with our fundraising efforts to push on and raise as much money as we can for the charities.

Fifty Thousand Pounds would be a great achievement in honor of the Fiftieth anniversary of the Lisbon Lions.

Fundraising Update – 17th May 2017

Buenos Noches!

Our team have arrived safely in Santander and are settling down on dry land after 24 hours on the Portsmouth – Santander ferry.

First thing to be unpacked was the boss man’s calculator and after tapping away for what seemed an age – it is official – we have BROKEN through the THIRTY SEVEN THOUSAND POUND target and are well on our way to £40k.

This is amazing news and its all thanks to our very generous supporters.

Watch the clip below to hear what group lead Paul Muldoon (the boss man) had to say about it.  (bear with him he’s unusually camera shy!)

You are all amazing and hearing the fundraising tally rise makes us pedal on knowing how the charities will benefit from your very kind donations.  We don’t want to be greedy but lets try and push on to £40K. (Details on how to sponsor us via text or via our secure fundraising pages can be found here).

Please continue to follow our journey as we head down through Spain and into Portugal over the next week.

From the bottom of our hearts…. Gracias! Thank you! Danke! Merci! Grazie and Cheers!

Major fundraising milestone reached

Major fundraising milestone reached

Early yesterday morning (day 3 of cycle) we reached an incredible milestone in our fundraising by hitting the THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND POUND target.

This couldn’t have come at a better time as Day 3 was a particular gruesome day for the team as it was a day of up hills and down dales for most of the day. So to hear we had reached and surpassed £35K gave us that push to get up and down those hills.

It was whilst out on these hills that some of us were stopped to be handed some further cash donations. Incredible!

Some of our donations across the team pages are anonymous – so we would all like to extend thanks to each and every one of you who has taken the time to donate to our fundraising.

Our three charities are incredibly proud of our achievements to date and the money raised will go a long way to helping each of them deliver their core values.

It’s a lot of money to have raised – by let’s not stop there – let’s push on and see if we can reach £40K.
